About Farmer Fred

Fred Collins has a PhD in Entomology. He worked as a crop consultant for 40 years while farming soybeans, cotton, wheat, and corn. After retiring from consulting, Fred worked for the past 5 years as a researcher for the LSU-Alexandria Ag Center. In 2024, Collins expanded his vegetable garden for commercial use, growing ½ acre of mixed vegetables and ½ acre of sweet corn. Echo Farms Produce markets vegetables to local farmers markets, restaurants, and grocers.
